Honey-Do Weekend
May 10, 2008 by Amy
In the years of gymnastics, I would long for weekends where we had nothing to do. When the boys quit gymnastics, I figured those weekends were right around the corner.
Um, no.
Because now we have time to recognize all the things that never got done because we were never here. Little projects, big projects, and all the projects in between.
It’s shaping up to be another busy weekend: the boys have a piano recital (note to self: need cookies) and then it’s out to dinner with the parents and sibs to celebrate Mother’s Day early (note to self: get mom a card). 9 is sick, so we’re hoping he’ll make it through his two recital pieces since his grandparents are driving for an hour to hear the boys play (note to self: remind children to stay healthy for functions their grandparents will attend). Then it’s back home to futz with the grapevine, replant some strawberries, work in the garden, cap the sprinklers where the pool will go, clean bathrooms, do laundry, vacuum floors, wash sheets, the next room in Amy’s Oranganizingpalooza, &c, &c, and so forth (note to self: assign children more chores).
So, it’s shaping up to be a honey-do weekend here in our little corner of the world. What’s on your agenda?
Funny because when I quit my day got, I felt overwhelmed by everything that needed done around the house.
It took a few days to feel like I had my arms around everything that needed done.
I mean my day JOB!
I’m back from Maine, playing catch-up.
I have to do the pre-Preakness article, write a book review, draft a longish short story, revise an essay for an anthology and get started on that new script!
Plus, keep up with the other WIPs.
I just got back from banking at two different banks, the post office, the phone place, massive bill paying, getting my mom’s mother’s day gift and card, the wine store, the bookstore, and the grocery store.
Time for pizza!
Enjoy your weekend.
I planted. DH powerwashed the green stuff off of our siding (yuck). DD played in the creek and looked for rocks. Dakota pretty much just main a nuisance of herself.
Good luck with crossing things off your honey do list. That’s how my life will be once I get this book off! I’m actually looking forward to it though. I want things done!
Fixed my software program; did laundry; try to make card - oops, no ink, now have to buy mother’s day card; buy ink cartridges; wrap quilted pillow for mom;
Today I had to get everyone ready and out of the house for Mass, doesn’t sound like much of a job? HA! Begged hubs to figure out why Son’s ceiling fan was making funky noises, do laundry, remind hubs tomorrow is Mother’s Day and hey maybe he needs to get me a card from the kids. Remind him to get HIS mother a Mothers Day card. Pick up the LR, fix dinner, clean the KIDS! *sigh* Figure out when to mow the grass and etc. We get days off, right? RIGHT? *G*
Happy Mother’s Day Amy!
And Another HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to you!
Another busy weekend, but not much “honey do.” I wrote a book review, critiqued for a CP, and finally wrote some pages. Yay! We went out for dinner last night and watched Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I thought it was okay. Not as good as Iron Man last week.
Happy Mother’s Day!
PJ, yeah, the glamorous life of a stay-at-home, huh? What surprised me the most was that the brief time I had both my children is school, I was busier than ever!
Devon, glad you’re back! Oh, pizza. Hope you had some wine with that! You have so much energy! I’m always impressed by how much you accomplish every day.
Marianne, gardening is good, no? And washing green stuff off the side of your house, um, yeah, ick. But it must be done. I can see the roof over our garage from my office window. Yeah, have “call roof cleaner” on my list tomorrow.
Dru, did your mom like the pillow? Don’t you hate when the printer runs out of ink? There should be some sort of ACCURATE warning system. Our old ink jet used to tell us it was out of ink when the cartridges were half full.
Brandy, do we get days off? I don’t think I have that in my calendar.
Edie: yay on pages. That’s ALWAYS good. We saw Iron Man after the recital on Saturday. I’ll be buying it when it hits disc.
Thanks Brandy, Edie and Dru!
